My photographs for the Guardian’s online Country Diary accompany the writing of Paul Evans and are often images of the subject of that writing. We share an experience and express them in different media – he through prose and me through photography. This is also the case for my illustrations of Paul Evans’ book Field Notes from the Edge. The line drawings come from images of the actual places and wildlife mentioned in the chapters to become visual interpretations worked into a kind of iconography.
